The dark side of the music industry: In the first energetic trailer for the new HBO series “The Idol”, pop superstar The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp go wild to the pumping bass of the French electro band “Justice”!
It’s still a while until the next season of the successful youth series “Euphoria”, but fans of the series can bridge the waiting time with “The Idol”, the new creation of “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson. Now a first trailer for the new HBO production has been released and it has it all: Music megastar Abel Tesfaye, who is better known to many by his stage name The Weeknd, and Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp tear to the pumping sounds of the French electro duo “Justice”. Party hut off – sex, drugs, money and lots of alcohol shouldn’t be missing!
Not much is known about the new HBO series so far, other than that it’s arguably about a self-help guru and modern-day cult leader (portrayed by pop star The Weeknd) who begins a relationship with an aspiring pop idol (Lily-Rose idiot) comes in.
“The Idol” addresses the downsides of the music industry
Developed by Sam Levinson in collaboration with The Weeknd and Reza Fahim, The Idol appears to be themed on the dark side of the music industry. In the first trailer, we see sex-sells choreography, late-night partying, and drug-taking in the recording studio—exactly what fans should expect from a new series from Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.
The Idol will be released via HBO Max – an exact start date has not yet been announced, but HBO has already confirmed that the series will be available on HBO Max later this year. It is not yet known when and where “The Idol” will be shown in Germany – but it is likely that they will premiere in this country via Sky and the associated streaming service WOW (formerly Sky Ticket).
Only “Game Of Thrones” was watched more: “Euphoria” with Zendaya is a series hit on the way to the top
